Much of Lovecraft's work relies on the imagination of the reader. He rarely describes any of the creatures in details as they are supposed to be mind-bendingly indescribable in human comprehension!
Lovecraft did however give the reader enough of a description as to give the reader the seed of descriptions, just enough to convey the incomprehensible into some form of an image in the readers mind. Of this, he was the master.
Really, how does a writer create a story about a color that is absolutely indescribable? Well, Lovecraft did with "The Colour Out of Space"!
As with any reader of Lovecraft & his cosmic horrors, we still yearn to see and somehow comprehend what he's writing about.
Thus this book was born.
Various artists, various interpretations, various styles coalesce into this visual melting pot in an attempt to describe the indescribable.
