Evil Dead Wrath (2028)

Reports confirm that filming has concluded now as of 7/20/26.

Although not much is known regarding the next entry into the EDU (Evil Dead Universe) other than it is a prequel to the original The Evil Dead (1981) and takes place in the 1970's - specifically 1972 according to some reports.

We know who has been cast:

Charlotte Hope (known for The Nun)

Jessica McNamee (known for Mortal Kombat)

Zach Gilford (known for Midnight Mass)

Josh Helman (known for Mad Max: Fury Road)

Ella Newton (known for Dangerous Animals)

Elizabeth Cullen (known for Goolagong)

Ella Oliphant (Australian newcomer)

We don't yet know the characters names or if the setting is the original cabin or another location.

I know this entry has divided some fans of the franchise but I enjoyed the film!

Yes, tonally it's different and that's a good thing! Who wants to see the same premise regurgitated every time?

The directing was very creative and serves to show the pure brutality in a disorienting manner.

The mid and end credits scenes actually serve to connect the entries together, in my opinion. 

If you're expecting Ash vs Evil Dead-vibes, this film isn't it. 

The comedy is at a bare minimum.

The story is thin but serves the purpose of furthering the Evil Dead Universe perfectly.

New concepts introduced are interesting. They afford future entries to expand into new, darker territory.

The next movie, Evil Dead Wrath, has already finished filming and should be released next year.

I recommend "Burn", if you're an Evil Dead fan but if you're a casual moviegoer - best to sit this one out.
